Penny and Hound - Handmade Dog Collars Measuring Guide

Penny and Hound Dog Collars

MEASURING DOG COLLARS CORRECTLY

At Penny and Hound, we always recommend to measure your dogs neck for the most accurate measurement, however I know a lot of you prefer to measure your dogs collars. So here’s a collar size guide for you to follow when measuring your dogs collar.

The example shows the measurements of our extra small handmade dog collars which fits around your dogs neck from 7 to 11 inches.

If you notice on the red buckle collar, each eyelet measures at 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 inches. This is how the collar will measure when it’s in use.

If you measure from the collar end (as seen) to the eyelet that your dog wears their collar at, then that’s the size you need. The example shows that this collar would fit at 10 inches.

The plastic clip buckle measures the same as the clasp buckles & will measure from one end of the clip to the other. This isn't always accurate, as different collars from different shops can be made to measure differently. The best way to measure this type of collar is to measure it at the length it is when you take it off your pooch. Again, this example shows that the blue collar measures at 10 inches.

If you find that your dogs neck or collar measures at 11,  14,  18  or  22  inches & is still growing then we would recommend  to go to the next size up.
